ZaZu Fishing Tournament

Rules & Regulations

The following are the official rules to the ZAZU Tournament. These rules will be adhered to and will be monitored by the Tournament.

All tournament entries must be in accordance with Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept. Regulations. All entries must have a valid Texas fishing license and it must be in their possession at all times along with a valid photo ID.

Angler, Guide, Sponsor Liability & Talent Release

The camp requires that each participant, guide, and sponsor sign a liability and talent release form that permits the use of photographs, video, and written material to promote the tournament. This will be done at check in Friday, October 15th 3-5 pm. at the camp.

Bait

Anglers may use the bait of their choice. Guided charters most likely will provide bait but please ask your guide.

Boating Safety

The ZAZU Tournament adheres to promoting boating safety by ensuring all the boats in the tournament meet U.S. Coast Guard regulations. Although the law does not require you to wear a life vest while on the boat, we STRONGLY suggest participants wear life vests while the boat is running.

Boundaries:

This is an inshore bay fishing tournament, therefore any jetty and or surf fishing is NOT allowed. The parameters are south of the Victoria barge channel and north of the JFK causeway.

Entry Fees/Sponsorships

Entry fees and sponsorships must be paid in full no later than August 1, 2010.

Guides

There are three divisions in this tournament: Guided, Unguided & Fly Fishing.

Teams wanting to fish the chartered Division are responsible for hiring their own guide. A list will be provided on the website (only) for your convenience.

The tournament ONLY provides guides to sponsor levels $5,000 and up.

Fishing Times

Boats may begin fishing at 6:00 am. Weigh-in opens at 1:00 pm. Boats must be checked in by 2:00 pm. Weigh in closes at 3:30 pm.

Fly Fishing

The fly-fishing division will consist of two anglers and will adhere to the same rules and regulations as the other two divisions. They will be required to be checked in by 2:00 pm as well.

Lodging

The Lighthouse Inn has graciously agreed to serve as our official host hotel and has provided us a special group rate for those who will need overnight accommodations. Rates and contact details may be found on our website.

Registration

Registration is located at Camp Aranzazu between 3:00 - 5:00 pm on Friday, October 15, 2010. All anglers and guests must check-in to be eligible to participant in tournament activities.

Tournament Boats:

All boats participating in ZAZU Tournament MUST meet US Coast Guard and Texas Parks and Wildlife Regulations. Any boat caught in violation is subject to disqualification.

Tournament Hours

Boats can take off from the location of their choice HOWEVER you may not start fishing until 6:00 am. Boats must be back no later than 2:00 pm. If the team has not checked in by 2:00 pm, the day's stringer is disqualified.

Tournament Stringer / Weigh in

The tournament stringer will consist of (3) Redfish and (3) Speckled Trout. The method of measurement will be in accordance with Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept., which is from tip of nose to a squeezed tail. Lengths on Redfish will be from 20" to 28". No oversized tagged redfish will be allowed. Minimum length on Trout will be 18". Team stringers may ONLY include ONE Trout 25" or larger.

Any illegal fish presented for weigh-in will be disqualified and may not be replaced with another fish.

In the event of a tie in weight, the total length of the stringer will determine the winner.

Each tournament boat will have weigh-in bags on board. The guide and team captain are to bag the fish they wish to weigh in PRIOR to coming to the weigh in area. The team captain will sign and receive a copy of the weigh-in sheet with the total weight.

Weigh in Fish

All fish submitted for weigh-in become the property of the tournament.
